  • Responsibilities

    Candidate will support the Air Acoustic Signal Processing (AASP) Project that is engaged in development of Signal and Information Processing Applications, and Displays and Controls Applications for the Department of Defense (DOD). Candidate must be familiar with activities associated with Quality Assurance of large, complex software developments that include multiple Computer Software/Hardware Configuration Items (CSCIs and HCIs).  The emphasis in  this position is that the applicant must be able to bridge the gap between knowledge of the operation of the developed products and an ability to do limited changes to software under the direction of more senior software engineers.  


    Functional duties: Operates sensor/systems and participates in “hands-on” test involving navy platforms. Assigned work requires a demonstrated knowledge in either radar, IFF, data links, CEC, ASW/ASUW, tactics, navigation, communication, armament, ordnance, flight station acoustics or non-acoustics sensors. In-depth knowledge of how these sensors are used on their resident platforms and sufficient background knowledge and experience to enable the projection of upgraded equipment into future mission requirements. Experience must demonstrate ability to evaluate new or revised software that controls/responds to current hardware, evaluate proposed software that will control new hardware and perform test and evaluation on the integrated sensor suite. Demonstrate ability to test software. Testing may involve interaction with tactical computers and system computer, acoustic assignments, objectives, and necessary points of emphasis related to proposed enhancements and new capabilities. Experience must demonstrate ability to analyze solutions, estimate problem impact on mission functions and provide an evaluation on the resulting solution.


    Bachelors degree in engineering, applied sciences, or computer science.


    At least four (4) years of experience in the engineering field testing naval aircraft weapons systems. Applicant will be assigned several duties as follows:

    • Generation of a requirements to test tracking mechanism
    • Generation of Use Cases
    • Generation of Test Procedures
    • Execution of Test Procedures
    • Documentation of Test Results in a Test Report
    • Must be prepared to participate in processes applicable to DOD Weapon Systems such as: Software Requirements Reviews (SRRs), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs);
    • Experience in the use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
    • Must be able to work flexible hours, normally between 08:00 and 18:00 hours
    • Applicant must be willing to travel about 10 times per year, for 2-3 days, primarily to Patuxent River, Maryland
    • Candidates must be able to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance.
    • Candidate will be required to pass a background check for this position. 

    Additional experience in the following areas are a plus:

    • P-8A Poseidon A/C System
    • Air Anti-Submarine Warfare
    • Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
    • Experience with Air ASW Test Tools: Sonobuoy Simulation Tools, Many Channel Programmable Acoustic Processor Stimulator (McPAPS), Platform Simulation Tools: MAC-E Prototyping Tool (MPT) Software Analysis Reduction Tools
    • Digital Signal and Information Processing software development
    • Displays and Controls software development
    • Experience with LINUX
    • Familiarity with Air ASW platforms: LAMPS, P-3C or S-3B
    • Experience with Visio
    • Familiarity with GIT, SVN and CVS
    • Experience with Java Programming
    • Experience with C/C++ Programming
