  • Responsibilities

    Project Overview:

    We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to provide critical support for current modernization projects involving Oracle as the backend for customized software applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for application design, implementation, and support. Ensures compatibility between equipment and software, analyzes operational/systems requirements, supports design reviews, and presents technical briefings. Engineers systems, including conducting of prototype, proof of concept, or the full implementation of systems. Evaluates, assesses, documents, and tests data security and continuity of operations for systems and programs. Serves as solutions provider to senior management and professional staff concerning areas of technological development and advancement.

     

    Minimum Technical Qualifications:

    • 9 years’ experience
      • Developing software and systems with task specified programming language (e.g., SAS, JAVA, Dot.NET, PowerBuilder, etc.).
      • Knowledge of one or more scripting language (e.g., UNIX, PERL, Javascript, etc.)
      • Coding with SQL or database stored procedures
      • Oracle, Sybase, SAS datasets
      • AppDev Studio
      • Analyzing requirements from users and producing system specifications, analysis models using Unified Modeling Language (UML) or other data modeling standards
      • Unit, Module, Functional and Systems testing
      • Creating and managing database resources
      • Creating database backup and recovery procedures
    • At least 7 years’ experience
      • Designing and developing applications
      • Data warehousing, distributed processing, logical and physical database design, software integration, or implementation of security techniques
      • Evaluating or comparing various technologies (e.g. client/server, multi-tiered architectures, database architectures, and structures, etc.) and their appropriateness for a wide variety of business requirements
      • Broad, in-depth knowledge of current network development and database architectures and technologies.
      • Internet/Intranet protocols and web server technologies, if required.
      • Developing systems architectures, if required.
    • At least 5 years’ experience
      • Performing analysis of applications or multi-module systems.
      • Developing with at least one development methodology like Agile or RUP.

     

    • At least 3-4 years’ experience
    • Producing program specifications.
    • Translating design specifications into computer program instructions, preparing test plans, and conducting tests.

    Desirable Qualifications (but not required)

    • The use of version control software or software migration routines
    • Project experience with Agile frameworks, DevOps or other iterative development methodologies
    • Experience in multiple test and production environments
    • Experience with the BLS standard IT development products and environments
    • Knowledge of BLS surveys and systems
    • Serving as technical team leader of other programmers and/or analysts.

     

    Contract Requirements

    • If a foreign national, Visa must be up-to-date and demonstrated work experience here in the US for three (3) or more years

     

    Qualifications

    Must be authorized to work in USA. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder or possess Employment Authorization Document (EAD) or H1B transferable visa with minimum of 2 years expiration.

     

    Candidate will go through a background check.

     

    These are full-time positions with Sabre Systems. Must work onsite, not remotely.
